Questions about AI Characters
What are TalkDrill AI Characters?
They are AI chat partners for English practice. Some are inspired by famous people from history and stories, and some are friendly characters created by TalkDrill. Each one has its own personality, topics and conversation missions.
Am I talking to the real person?
No. Every character is an AI simulation. Historical characters are inspired by historical records and are not affiliated with or endorsed by the real person or their estate. They can make mistakes, so check important facts in a reliable source.
Is it free?
Yes. Anyone can send 10 messages a day without an account. A free TalkDrill account lets you keep chatting, and the chat you started moves into your account so the character remembers it.
How does chatting with a character improve my English?
You practise real conversation about topics that interest you. The character recasts your mistakes inside its answer, keeps its English at your level, and always asks a follow-up question, so you write more and learn the correct forms in context.
Is it safe for students?
Characters stay on friendly, school-safe topics and politely change the subject when needed. Every message is checked for safety, and if someone says they are in danger the chat shows real helpline numbers instead of a character reply.
