How to use this page
The official CELPIP website is celpip.ca, run by Paragon Testing Enterprises (the site footer reads "©2026 Prometric"), and IRCC's rules for using CELPIP results are on canada.ca. Four official pages answer most questions: your country's date table (price, centres, seats), the policies and forms page (refunds, transfers, retakes), the results page (timing, score report, re-evaluation) and IRCC's Express Entry language test results page (the CLB table and the two-year rule). Every link below was opened on 21 October 2026 and read; each row says what it answers, so you can go straight to the right page instead of searching. Where CELPIP's own pages contradict each other, and several do, we say which one to trust. TalkDrill's pages explain these rules in plain English, but when a fee or a deadline matters to you, open the official page and read it yourself.

IRCC: the rules CELPIP results are judged by
| canada.ca page | What it answers | Last modified |
|---|---|---|
| Express Entry: language test results | CELPIP-General is accepted; CELPIP 7, 8, 9 and 10 or above equal CLB 7, 8, 9 and 10 or above; results must be less than two years old when you complete your profile and when you apply; enter the certificate number and PIN if asked | 16 Oct 2026 |
| Express Entry: language requirements | Minimums by programme: Federal Skilled Worker CLB 7; Canadian Experience Class CLB 7 or CLB 5 depending on the job's TEER category; Federal Skilled Trades CLB 5 in speaking and listening, CLB 4 in reading and writing | 16 Oct 2026 |
| Citizenship: proof of language | Applicants aged 18 to 54 must show CLB 4 or higher in speaking and listening | 11 Sep 2025 |
| celpip.ca: IRCC page | CELPIP's own summary: General for permanent residence, LS for citizenship (prices on it are stale) | Read 21 Oct 2026 |
If your programme is a Provincial Nominee Program, the province sets its own minimum; check the province's page as well as IRCC's. CELPIP's contact FAQ also notes that CELPIP-General "is not considered a designated English language test by the Quebec Immigration Office", so Quebec applicants need a different test.
Free official preparation
| Official resource | What you get | Best used for |
|---|---|---|
| Free practice tests | Official practice tests for General or LS, after a short form | Learning the screens, timers and question types before your first mock |
| Score comparison chart | Official Speaking and Writing responses rated at each level, with the reason for the mark | Hearing the difference between a 7 and a 9 on the same task |
| Webinars and workshops | Live two-hour webinars in English (Listening Pro, Reading Pro, Speaking Pro) | Asking a CELPIP presenter questions live |
| CELPIP Speaking Pro | Speaking webinars at Target 5 and Target 9+, with sample-response analysis | Understanding the four Speaking dimensions from the test maker |
Official material shows you the standard. It does not give you the daily repetitions that move a level. For that, use our CELPIP Speaking practice bank (written by TalkDrill, not official) and speak every day on TalkDrill, where the AI tutor gives feedback on what you said.
Where official pages disagree
CELPIP's site has been updated piece by piece, so the same fact appears with different values on different pages. This is the list we found on 21 October 2026, and the version we use on this hub:
| Fact | Versions on celpip.ca | What we use, and why |
|---|---|---|
| Canadian price, General | CAD 280 (IRCC page), CAD 290 (General and LS pages, 2024 notice), CAD 295 (July 2026 guidebook), CAD 299 (overview, residency pages, most of the date table), CAD 306 (date table, 2027 sittings and a few centres earlier) | CAD 299, and CAD 306 for 2027 sittings: the date table is what you pay against |
| Canadian price, LS | CAD 195 (IRCC, General and LS pages), CAD 199 (overview, citizenship page, guidebook, date table), CAD 206 (date table, 2027) | CAD 199, and CAD 206 for 2027 sittings |
| Results time | 2 to 4 business days (results, test-day pages, guidebook); 3 to 4 business days (overview, India FAQ) | 2 to 4 business days, from the results page |
| Score validity | Five years (results page); two years (format and scoring page); viewable for two years (India FAQ) | Two years for Express Entry, because IRCC sets that rule |
| Indian network | 25 centres in 15 cities (India landing page); five cities (India FAQ); 48 centres in 40 cities (India date table) | The date table |
| Cancellation and transfer window | Seven days, first transfer free (policies page, contact FAQ), though a later paragraph of the policies page still charges CAD 50 for any transfer; nine days, CAD 50 every transfer (India FAQ) | The policies page; act on the stricter version if a deadline is close |
| Gap between sittings | No more than one session within five calendar days (policies page); 30 days apart (India FAQ) | The policies page |
| Printed score report | Discontinued (results page); two print copies by registered mail (July 2026 guidebook) | PDF only, from the results page; download it yourself |
What we could not verify this week
- GST on Indian bookings. No CELPIP page says whether tax is added to ₹15,500. Check the payment screen.
- The re-evaluation fee. CELPIP says it depends on the components and is paid when you apply; the amount is not printed on the results page, the policies page or the FAQ.
- Voucher prices. Not published by CELPIP.
- International pricing page. The overview page links "international pricing" to celpip.ca/take-celpip/where-do-we-test, which returned "not found". We use the country date tables instead.
- The old FAQ page. celpip.ca/take-celpip/faqs returned "not found"; the FAQ now lives on the contact page.
- Per-task Speaking timings. The format page gives 15 minutes for all eight tasks and no per-task preparation or speaking times. Figures you see elsewhere come from study materials, and our format page labels them that way.
- The citizenship test list. IRCC's citizenship language page states the CLB 4 rule but does not mention CELPIP on the page itself; CELPIP's LS page says LS is "officially designated for citizenship applications by IRCC".
- Mexico, Japan and Brazil prices. Taken from the 2024 notice; we did not read those countries' date tables this week.
A five-minute check before you book
- Open IRCC's language requirements page and write down the CLB you need in each skill. Check that you need CELPIP-General (permanent residence) and not LS (citizenship).
- Open your country's date table, filter by city and test type, and note the price shown next to the session you want.
- Read the cancellation and transfer rows on the policies page, and choose a session at least eight days out.
- Check your passport: valid, unexpired, not going away for a visa stamp before test day, and the name exactly as you will type it.
- Sit one timed mock first. Our 30-day CLB 9 plan shows how, and the CELPIP hub links every other guide.
