What a college can and cannot see about its students on TalkDrill
Staff see when a student last practised, their scores, readiness and rank, but nobody at the institution can read a transcript of, or play back, a student’s private practice conversations. Students are shown exactly what staff can see before they join, can leave from their own settings at any time, and thirty days after they leave their individual detail is removed from the console.
What staff can and cannot see
The same lists students are shown before they join.
Staff can see
When someone last practised, how many sessions and how long
Their scores and progress: readiness across seven skills, interview, speaking, grammar and course chapters
How their placement test was taken, next to their own explanation
Where they stand against your own rules — checkpoints done, classes attended — shown apart from their skill scores
Attendance and participation scores from classes and practice slots
Their rank on their batch’s leaderboard
Staff cannot see
What anyone said in their private practice: no transcript and no replay
Their chats with the AI, their notes, or anything outside TalkDrill
Members are shown exactly this before they join, and they can leave from their own settings at any time. Thirty days after someone leaves, their individual detail is removed from the console; your batch and team totals are unaffected.
Why private practice stays private
A student who thinks a hostile-interviewer roleplay might be read in a faculty office stops practising honestly, and then every score the placement cell looks at means less. So staff see activity, scores, progress and rank, and the conversations themselves stay with the student who had them.
Joining and leaving
Joining
A join code the college shares, an email-domain rule for the college address, or a roster the college uploads.
Leaving
A student can leave the institution from their own settings at any time.
After leaving
Thirty days after someone leaves, their individual detail is removed from the console. Batch-level totals stay.
India’s data-protection law
India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and its rules govern how personal data, including students’ data, is handled. If any students in a batch are under 18, tell us before the rollout so we can agree how consent will be collected before they join.
Questions placement cells ask
Can faculty read or replay what a student said in practice?
What can staff see?
Do students know what staff can see?
What happens to a student’s data when they leave or graduate?
